How to Add a Client Email and Zipcode/Passcode in BillFin Manually
eDocs allows users to send client invoices securely via email. The email includes a link that the client will click to download their invoice. When attempting to open the invoice, the client will be prompted to enter a passcode to authenticate the user as the valid recipient of the invoice. By default, the "Zipcode" field in the client's address in BillFin will be used as the passcode. If users do not wish to use the client's zipcode as the passcode, they can use the "Passcode" field to enter some other unique code which they will need to share with the recipient.
BillFin will not allow users to email invoices to clients that are missing email addresses and/or passcodes in BillFin. (This is similar to how red flags block clients on the "Invoices" and "Payments" pages from exporting until resolved.)
The steps below will walk users through adding a client's email and zipcode/passcode manually in BillFin.
How to Add a Client Email and Zipcode/Passcode in BillFin Manually:
- Navigate to the "Clients" page
- Hover over pencil next to the desired client and click "View Client Details"
A slide out window will appear
- In the "Invoice Recipients" section at the bottom of the slide out, click "Add"
- Input the Recipient Code, Recipient Name, Email and Zipcode or Passcode for passcode protection. Any other field is optional
- Click Save
- Users will need to notify clients of their passcodes so they can open invoices (specifically if the passcode is different from the default/zipcode)
